Winter Beauty

Today's post comes from a new guest contributor, Liz Fahey. Liz is a massage therapist at The Body Spot, Bondi, a budding journalist and an aspiring nutritionist. She is passionate about natural beauty, loves practicing yoga with us at Yoga by the Sea and has been kind enough to share her three favourite beauty tips for smooth skin this Winter! Feel free to share your own tips below. Enjoy! *Little Lotus*

Keep your skin smooth this winter...

1. Coconut cure

Shower in warm water and keep it short to prevent stripping skin of its natural oils. Apply coconut body oil to damp skin, “Smothering your body in coconut oil daily will increase skin hydration and surface lipid levels,” says Dr. Sahelian, author of Mind Boosters, The Stevia Cookbook.

2. Facial express

Mix 8 drops fresh lime juice, 1/2 tablespoon of honey and sliced cucumber. Leave on cleansed skin for 15 minutes. Rinse with water. “The Lime peels away surface cells, honey softens skin while cucumber replenishes moisture,” says Sophie Beng author of The Tropical Spa - Asian Secrets of Health, Beauty and Relaxation.

3. Lip service

Kiss dry, chapped lips goodbye this winter with an exfoliating treatment and an ultra hydrating lip balm. Apply ¼ teaspoon of freshly mashed papaya to lips. Leave for 10 minutes. Rinse with water.  “Never leave home without a lip balm. Make sure it has an SPF, and apply often,” says dermatologist and founder and director of the The West Institute, Tina West.
